" I'm not sure who started this
whole myth of college kids streaking all of the time,
but do not believe the hype. I haven't gone streaking since
last
January."
-Johnny Lechner |
Johnny is just in college so he can date freshman
and sophomore girls.

I’m
no ladies man. I've been stood-up, dumped, and had my heart broken
many times in the last decade. It also doesn't help that I get
totally nervous and can’t
even put sentences together as soon as an attractive girl starts
talking
to me. It takes me a little while to trust people enough to open
up.
As far as freshman and sophomore girls, I have not dated one in
a few years. But if
someone accuses me of dating “younger women” I am guilty since
they are all younger. I’ve been in college since 1994!

Johnny is a “party animal” slacker
that is not contributing to society.

Without knowing me, people have this crazy image in their head that
I am out partying every night and sleeping in until noon. I may be
doing it a few times a week, but I am also active and motivated in
many areas of campus and society. I have been an A/B student for many
years at an accredited University where I have become (quite possibly)
the most educated undergraduate in the world. Some of my involvement
on campus has included the founding of the organization M.A.S.A.V.
(Men Against Sexual Assault and Violence), serving as the Special Events
Coordinator for the College, and starting a scholarship program for
non-traditional aged college students. I have also been active with
various volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, Camp Hope (a camp
for children that have lost a parent or loved one), the UW-W Praire
Restoration Project, UW-W Adopt a Quad, Camp Evergreen (camp for physically
and mentally disabled), and Camp Getaway (camp for inner-city Chicago
children that are infected with HIV or AIDS).

Mr. Lechner is exploiting the system, costing the taxpayers money,
and taking a spot from a deserving applicant.
People have been misled to believe that taxpayer dollars are subsidizing
my educational costs. I am actually one of only a handful of students
in the State of Wisconsin that covers that subsidized amount out of
my own pocket. As far as taking up a spot of a deserving applicant,
The Chancellor and other representatives have been quoted that I have
not stood in the way of a single applicant’s acceptance.

Johnny has gone to college and has nothing to show for it.

I’ve switched majors quite a few times, but it looks as if I will end
up with something that would resemble a triple major/triple minor.
The areas of emphasis are Theater, Communications, Education, Health,
Liberal studies, and Women’s Studies. I am interested in adding
a minor or major in Social Work during year number 13.

His parents must be paying for him.

They did help me a bit my first year (back in 1994). I also took out
some student loans my first four years, but I have basically been paying
my tuition as I go along for the past 8 years. I’ve done everything
from camp counselor to sub maker to waiter to selling my acoustic CDs.
It has been pretty costly, but the college years are worth much more
than money.

Johnny Lechner is afraid of the real world.

What I am afraid of is graduating and wishing I would have stayed one
more year. I have realized that people my age (and even people much
older) are naturally confused about what they are doing with their
lives. I’ve got the rest of my life to work and since I’m
enjoying the college years…why not add one more?

Johnny Lechner is a hero!

I’ve gotten hundreds of emails from people telling me I should
keep going to school, that I am their hero, and that they are living
vicariously through me. However, I’m really no hero. I'm just
your average 'underdog' musician type who decided to follow his heart
and not graduate yet.
